About
As I peered through the eyepiece, a landscape of cells lit up in front of me, arranged in a beautiful, structured manner—each with their own special purpose. It was the first human skin sample I had ever seen under a microscope and I never looked back.
Numerous scientific publications followed, including both animal and human studies on skin ageing, tumors, and the effects of radiation on healthy skin cells. Applied techniques ranged from immunofluorescence and transmission electron microscopy, to mass spectrometry, to ATAQ sequencing and immunohistochemistry.
Having presented my work at international conferences, to EU-funded project collaborators, physicians, and PhD students alike, I realized I wanted to impact dermatology and oncology fields in a bigger way.
Freelance medical writing has provided a non-traditional application for my experience and expertise, ensuring direct benefit and impact to an array of audiences, while allowing me to maintain rigorous, high standards in my work.
